Health - Left party calls for mobile doctors for rural areas
In view of the shortage of doctors, the Left Party in the Saxony-Anhalt state parliament is calling for a new model project for rural areas. A so-called Medimobil is to travel to places with an impending shortage of GPs and specialists at regular intervals. According to a motion that could be discussed in parliament next week, this is intended to ensure care close to home.
The mobile is to be equipped like a GP practice and "guarantee diagnostic standards". In addition to rapid laboratory tests, this would also include an ultrasound device and lung function monitor, according to the motion.
"We need solutions that are effective in the short term," said health policy spokesperson Nicole Anger. The measures envisaged by the state government to combat the shortage of doctors were not enough. Anger argued that the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians should operate the mobile and employ GPs for this purpose. According to the Left Party politician, specialists could be on site at certain times.

The proposed Medimobil project, if implemented by the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians, could provide essential healthcare services in underserved Municipalities within Saxony-Anhalt. This could potentially alleviate the current shortage of doctors and specialists in rural areas.
In support of the Left Party's motion, it's important to note that the mobile clinic should not only provide rapid lab tests and ultrasound services, but also employ local doctors and specialists, ensuring comprehensive healthcare services are available in these areas.
