Left: 7500 euros per refugee is too little
The payment of 7500 euros per refugee promised by the federal government is too little for the Left Party in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The financial leeway for states and municipalities would only be marginally improved by this, criticized the state chairman of the Left Party in MV, Peter Ritter, on Tuesday.
In the north-east, the state reimburses local authorities for refugee costs. The Left Party is a member of the state government. Before the summit in the Chancellery on Monday evening, the states had demanded 10,500 euros per refugee per year.
The Left Party in federal states, like Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, strongly dissent against the federal government's proposal of allocating 7500 euros per refugee, arguing that it falls short in significantly improving finances for local authorities. Amidst these discussions, reactions from various quarters have been cautiously awaited.
