Le Pen under investigation for financing the 2022 presidential election campaign
This Commission reviews the campaign financing of all candidates. Le Pen invested approximately 11.5 million Euros in her third presidential campaign in 2022. The Commission had previously rejected some of the expenses, including over 300,000 Euros for campaign advertising on buses. Le Pen lost the presidential election in 2022 in the runoff against Emmanuel Macron.
The Commission is currently examining the public prosecutor's office's determination in the preliminary investigation regarding Marine Le Pen's presidential campaign financing. The investigations are focusing on the 11.5 million Euros Le Pen invested in her presidential election campaign in 2022. Reports suggest that some of the penalties issued by the Commission for non-compliance relate to almost 300,000 Euros spent on campaign advertising on buses. Despite these challenges, Le Pen continued her determination to influence the presidential election, ultimately losing to Emmanuel Macron in the runoff held in Paris in 2022.
