Champions League - Lazio Rome will be a first for Bayern coach Tuchel
FC Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel does not want to be blinded by the current problems of their next Champions League opponents Lazio Roma. "When it comes to the knockout games, 90 minutes count twice, form on the day, small decisions, focus, injury situation and then it's also about the course of the game," said Tuchel on Tuesday about the eleventh-placed team in Serie A. "We shouldn't get carried away by the current situation in the table."
Munich will play their Champions League round of 16 first leg in Rome on February 14, with the return leg at the Allianz Arena on March 5. "I've never played in Rome, I've never played against Lazio. It's a great traditional club, you know immediately: light blue shirts and emotional fans," said Tuchel. "We definitely have the ambition to win the clash in 180 minutes." Last season's Italian runners-up are coached by the experienced Maurizio Sarri.
