Radical ideologies - Law enforcement personnel in MV honor fallen comrade from Mannheim.
A few days after the heartbreaking stabbing rampage in Mannheim, officers in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern paid tribute to their late comrade Rouven Laur on Friday. Around 600 cops assembled at the Schwerin market square to honor their fallen brother. At precisely 11:34 a.m., they stood in solemn silence, as many onlookers also joined in the moment of respect.
In the prior Friday, a 25-year-old Afghan attacked five members of the anti-Islam group Pax Europa and the 29-year-old police officer with a blade on the Mannheim market square. The police officer lost his life due to the injuries on Sunday.
In response to Interior Minister Christian Pegel's (SPD) orders, mourning flags were displayed in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. All government buildings, including ministries, the state chancellery, and state police headquarters, lowered their flags to half-staff. At 11:34 a.m., police stations across the state had their officers stand in front of them to honor the fallen colleague, Rouven Laur.
Laur, who tried to protect Pax Europa supporters from the attack, was severely stabbed multiple times in the head. He was swiftly taken down by another police officer with a firearm. The Federal Prosecutor's Office assumed control of the investigation. Unfortunately, the suspect was incapable of answering any questions due to his wounds.
