Vehicle movement - Law enforcement officers are present due to persistent rainfall and overflowing waters.
Police in northern Swabia reportedly addressed around 50 flood-related incidents since Friday night, with more occurring in southwestern Swabia although an exact number was not provided. Most of these reports were directed to the fire department for help with issues like flooded basements. In the area of Upper Bavaria North, the police tackled around 60 cases, focusing on Starnberg and Fürstenfeldbruck, in which streets were flooded and trees fell. A subway line was flooded in Puchheim, also from the Fürstenfeldbruck district. Lower Bavaria had 11 weather-related interventions caused by flooded roads. The Upper Palatinate experienced no police relevant incidents, but the fire department got the most calls.
The continual rainfall throughout Friday resulted in several accidents, and one on the A9 revealed three crashes involving four slightly injured individuals. One accident on the A9 near Ingolstadt presented a 47-year-old driver slamming into a vehicle belonging to a 40-year-old man, who was traveling with his wife and their two-year-old daughter. The 40-year-old was reportedly forced to brake suddenly due to traffic reasons, and the 47-year-old lost control of his vehicle on the wet road, leading to a collision with the other car. The wife of the 40-year-old was taken to the hospital for mild injuries. The total damage was assessed at approximately 45,000 euros.
Another accident on the A9 near Kipfenberg, in the Eichstätt district, saw a 41-year-old driver go off the road due to traveling too fast on a wet surface. He was taken to the hospital for minor injuries. A 38-year-old and his family were also involved in a crash on the A9 near Reichertshofen, in the Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm district. He ended up in the median strip after not adjusting his speed for the slippery road conditions, sustaining light injuries.
In Upper Franconia and the Upper Palatinate, there were additional crashes, with a 17-year-old on a moped in Baunach (Bamberg district) crashing due to excessive speed on the wet road, resulting in minor injuries. A 20-year-old in Kasendorf (Kulmbach district) careened into a roadside ditch due to traveling too quickly in a curve. A 34-year-old man crashed his car into a safety barrier on the A93 near Regensburg.
