Vehicular circulation experiences congestion - Law enforcement officer hurt during chase
A cop got hurt while chasing a kid on a moped in Möllenhagen, a place in the Mecklenburgische Seenplatte region. The cop and his colleagues wanted to check the moped over the weekend because they thought it was being driven without insurance. When they turned on their "Stop Police" lights in their patrol car, the kid on the moped sped up and even cut in front of them at dangerous spots. The teenager allegedly reached speeds of around 50 km/h (~31 mph). He then drove onto a bike path and almost crashed into a group of cyclists and a few pedestrians. To stop the kid, the police blocked his path with their patrol car. Unfortunately, the kid crashed his moped into the open driver's door of the police car, injuring the cop on his leg. The cop is currently unable to work.
It wasn't clear at first why the kid tried to escape the check. He had a valid driver's license, and the police stated that he wasn't under the influence of drugs or alcohol. They also discovered that the missing insurance sticker they initially found was just attached with a cable tie.

The moped incident occurred in the Möllenhagen area, which falls under the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania County. Despite the traffic congestion in Lake District's County, this high-speed chase and subsequent accident caused additional disruptions. The police are investigating this incident as a potential case of reckless driving, given the dangerous maneuvers and speed that led to the cop's injury.
