A person contacted the authorities, hinting at a potential captive situation at a Thai massage center in Barmbek-Süd, Hamburg. This led to a substantial law enforcement presence. The anonymous caller, absent from the location, claimed that their friend inside appeared frightened, as reported by a police representative. Officers from the support squad of the immediate response team subsequently headed to the location. Later, they breached the building and encountered two females.
The spokesperson continued, "We've examined the area and are now checking if anyone else is still within and who they might be." Initially, it was unclear if a hostage situation actually existed. "So far, we have no evidence to suggest that," the representative stated. The public in the nearby streets was in no danger. The situation was contained within the building on Humboldtstraße.
In an initial statement, the Hamburg police announced that their colleagues were already present and had implemented necessary measures. On the scene, officers armed with assault rifles had sealed off the potential crime area, as reported by Bild newspaper.
