- Law enforcement authorities in Rhine-Palatinate region are set to introduce new helicopters.

The authorities in Rhineland-Palatinate have introduced two helicopters to their fleet, which will now enhance assistance during emergency situations or for the fire department within the state. The two helicopters, with an approximate price tag of 36 million euros, are of the Airbus H145 model and come equipped with winches. This enables them to perform rescue operations in emergency situations, as was demonstrated during the 2021 flooding in the Ahr Valley. These aircraft can reach speeds of up to 280 km/h and can hold over 800 liters of water in their external tanks to combat forest fires. The helicopters will be stationed in Winningen, located close to Koblenz.

The new Airbus H145 helicopters, now part of the Rhineland-Palatinate fleet, are ideal for transport during emergency situations. Helicopters like these, equipped with winches, can effectively aid the fire department in various rescue operations.
