For an event affiliated with the AfD in Gera, the authorities have launched three probes concerning the employment of forbidden constitutional group emblems. As per police declarations, these transgressions include showing the infamous Nazi salute. Moreover, an investigation has been initiated for harassment and attempted battery against an independent journalist. A potential suspect has been pinpointed.
The occasion, listed as a "family event" on a Friday afternoon in the city center, was accompanied by numerous demonstrations, such as "Protest against the fascist Höcke" and "Heart over Hate - sending a message," which proceeded without incident.
In Thuringia, a fresh state parliament election will take place on September 1st. The Thuringian AfD, headed by Björn Höcke, is deemed firmly extremist by the region's Office for the Protection of the Constitution and is under surveillance.
