In the final, held on Centre Court in Timmendorfer Strand beside the Baltic Sea, the Olympic gold medalist from Rio, teaming up with her partner Louisa Lippmann from Hamburger SV, suffered a defeat to the reigning European champions and title holders Svenja Müller (Hamburg) and Cinja Tillmann (Düsseldorf). The scores were 0:2 (15:21, 18:21), denying Ludwig her eighth German title. Despite the loss, the crowd of over 4000 spectators gave her a heartwarming reception. In contrast, Müller and Tillmann clinched their third consecutive title.
