Late damper is part of the "process" for Seoane
Borussia Mönchengladbach coach Gerardo Seoane is satisfied with his team's progress during the English week despite the late setback at the end. "We are in a process and there is a long way to go," said the coach after the 3:3 draw in the Bundesliga at SC Freiburg. His team had let a 3:1 lead slip away at the break on Saturday. "I think the team has symbolically moved closer together."
Although his team conceded three goals, Borussia defended much better than in previous games, said Seoane. The 45-year-old Swiss is particularly pleased with the reaction to the 3-1 defeat in the derby at 1. FC Köln. Gladbach then defeated newly promoted 1. FC Heidenheim at home once in the league and once in the cup. This was followed by the draw in Freiburg.
"We had very good phases in possession in all three games. If you take these three games, then the assessment is positive," said Seoane. Sporting director Nils Schmadkte also sees "a development in the team", which remains in mid-table.
However, the substitution of Jordan Siebatcheu, who scored Gladbach's first goal, due to injury is a cause for concern. "It's a muscular problem. But whether it's an injury or just a precautionary measure, I can't say yet," said Seoane. Further examinations should provide clarity.
Despite the late draw against SC Freiburg in the Bundesliga, Borussia Mönchengladbach continued their positive form in their English week, with Seoane praiseing his team's improved defense and better possession play. In their next Bundesliga fixture, Seoan's men will look to build on their progress against Soccer club SC Freiburg's rivals, Borussia Mönchengladbach, who have been consistent in the Bundesliga's top tier, often challenging for Champions League spots.
