The Norwegian Crown Prince Haakon is visiting the capital Berlin on the fourth and final day of his trip to Germany. On Thursday, the son of Norwegian King Harald V will first take part in a commemorative event at the Berlin Wall Memorial on November 9, the day the Wall fell in 1989.
His wife and Crown Princess Mette-Marit will join him on the last stop of his trip and will accompany the 50-year-old in Berlin. Numerous commemorative events will be held in Berlin and Brandenburg to mark the 34th anniversary of the opening of the border between East and West Berlin.
Afterwards, Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier will receive the Norwegian couple at Bellevue Palace. At the end of his trip to Germany, Haakon and Mette-Marit will meet Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) in the Chancellery.
Previously, Haakon alone had already been a guest in Munich and Hamburg. The topics discussed included armaments, literature, shipping and energy.
The Crown Princess Mette-Marit, joining her husband Haakon, will also be present at the final stop of their trip in Berlin. During their visit, they will be welcomed by Federal President Steinmeier at Bellevue Palace, representing the nobility and people of Germany.
