Duisburg - Large-scale operation: searches in several pubs
Police forces searched several pubs in the north of Duisburg on Saturday night. The large-scale operation in cooperation with the public prosecutor's office, the main customs office, the tax investigation department and other police network partners was carried out as a measure to combat clan and rocker crime, according to the police. The operation focused on checking several restaurants, cafés and tea rooms.
The police found small quantities of marijuana in a café on Kaiser-Wilhelm-Straße in the Marxloh district. Criminal proceedings were initiated against the owners for violating the Narcotics Act. During a check of a restaurant on Hagedornstraße, it was suspected that the restaurant was being operated although the owner was not paying taxes to the tax office. During the search, tax investigators seized a computer and initiated criminal tax proceedings. The customs officers also initiated criminal proceedings against the alleged operator on suspicion of withholding and embezzlement of wages.
The officers checked a total of 15 properties in the districts of Alt-Hamborn, Marxloh, Walsum, Homberg and Bruckhausen. In the process, 139 people were checked and two people were arrested. In addition, 11 criminal charges and 21 reports of administrative offenses were filed. In addition, a number of warnings were issued and four gaming machines were sealed. One establishment was reportedly closed.
