- Large-scale event with 3000 attendees called off due to inclement weather.
Gathering at Zweibrücken Airport with around 3k participants got unexpectedly terminated due to intense rainfall and incoming strong wind bursts. The event organizers decided to call it off on a Saturday night, as per the police's statement. Law enforcement and security personnel collaborated to empty the premises. People took cover in nearby airplane hangars and vehicle storage areas before continuing their trips back home. No casualties were accounted for. The organizers of the digital festival "Spaetschicht Saar" shared the unfortunate news on Instagram in the evening. They expressed, "Regrettably, we need to evacuate due to the severe storm. It's just too perilous, and we can't jeopardize anyone's safety."
According to the authorities in the Zweibrücken region, various roads had to be suspended due to fallen trees and broken branches. This affected a city center street as well as parts of a county and state route.
The digital festival organizers posted on Instagram, "The following is added: Due to the rescheduling, the main stage performances will now take place on Sunday." Despite the event's cancellation, the organizers aimed to ensure a safe continuation of the festival activities where possible.
