In a large-scale operation, police officers from three states conducted checks on highways in South Hesse, inspecting nearly 140 vehicles and their occupants. Five individuals were temporarily detained. The operation on Thursday primarily targeted the prevention of burglaries and other property crimes, aiming to "deter criminals" as well.

The goal was to make South Hesse and its surrounding areas "unattractive" for criminals, the police stated. Officers from South Hesse, along with those from the police headquarters in Mannheim, Mainz, Koblenz, and Trier, were deployed.

A total of 19 investigations were initiated. "The range of offenses included forgery, misuse of license plates, obtaining false official documents, and illegal residence, among others," the police reported.

During the operation, police officers closely examined various aspects of each vehicle under scrutiny. The temporarily detained individuals were questioned about their travel plans and personal belongings.
