In a significant operation in Munich, police arrested a 33-year-old man in the evening on the bustling Hackerbrücke. Around 5:15 PM, there had been a physical altercation in which the 33-year-old had also used a knife, police reported.

According to further reports from the police in the evening, there had previously been a property crime in a nearby building. This led to the altercation between the 33-year-old resident of the Eichstätt district and two other men, during which the 33-year-old used a knife. One of the other men was reportedly slightly injured but did not require medical treatment.

Dozens of police officers in helmets and shields were deployed. Special forces trained for dangerous missions were on standby, and numerous patrol cars were called in. The police arrested the suspected perpetrator on the Hackerbrücke and quickly secured the situation, ensuring no danger to the public, a local officer said.

The 33-year-old has since been taken to a psychiatric facility. Investigations against him include dangerous bodily harm, armed robbery, threat, and resistance to law enforcement officers.

Train traffic was only briefly disrupted. For a short time, S-Bahn trains did not stop at the Hackerbrücke, a Deutsche Bahn spokesperson confirmed upon request.

The 33-year-old, who was originally from the Eichstätt district in Bavaria, was involved in the altercation. The incident occurred in Munich, the capital city of Bavaria.
