The deficit-ridden Redefin State Stud (District of Ludwigslust-Parchim) is to be strategically realigned. The historically significant, 200-year-old complex, used for horse breeding and training as well as cultural events, is to better develop its potential, as announced by the Ministry of Agriculture in Schwerin. An external consulting firm has been commissioned for this purpose, following a report by NDR.

A reduction in staff is not planned, a ministry spokeswoman said. The state stud has 32 positions and 15 places for trainees. The state stud received subsidies from the state for ongoing costs of over 1.7 million euros each in the past and this year. In addition, subsidies for investments are also provided.

Since February 2024, the state stud has had a temporary manager, Kristin Romanowski, who is head of a department in the Ministry of Agriculture. In early February, the previous stud director, Christoph Seite, was unexpectedly relieved of his duties. The reasons were not disclosed.

In a press release at the time, Agriculture Minister Till Backhaus (SPD) stated: "Christoph Seite took up his activity as stud director in October 2020 and put the stud on a good path. I regret that this path can no longer be continued together."

The Ministry of Agriculture is seeking to maximize the potential of the Heavy-laden Redefin State Stud with the help of an external consulting firm. Despite the significant financial support, the Heavy state stud has experienced challenges, leading to the temporary management appointment of Kristin Romanowski.
