Lainer back in training for the first time after cancer
With a broad grin and great joy, Stefan Lainer returned to part of Borussia Mönchengladbach's team training on Tuesday for the first time in four months. The Austrian international, who was diagnosed with lymph node cancer, returned to the pitch after undergoing performance diagnostics the day before. "It's nice to be back here," said the 31-year-old, who is gradually getting back into training. On Tuesday it was already enough for an hour.
Lainer received a warm welcome from his teammates and was allowed to run the trellis. He then took the floor in the team circle and was accompanied by loud applause. "We are all very happy and glad that Stevie is back. You can see how much he has missed it. Everyone knows what a fighter Stevie is," said teammate Julian Weigl.
Stefan Lainer's return to Borussia Mönchengladbach's training sessions brings excitement to the Bundesliga, as he progresses in his recovery from cancer. During the team's training, Lainer showed his enthusiasm for the upcoming Bundesliga matches, eager to contribute to Borussia Mönchengladbach.
