Kulturforum Lausitz: Exchange on the cooperation process
Lusatia is to establish itself as a European cultural region and cultural brand. Around 130 stakeholders from Saxony and Brandenburg met on Friday at the first Lusatia Cultural Forum in Doberlug-Kirchhain (Elbe-Elster district) for an initial thematic exchange. Lusatia has a unique treasure with its Sorbian-Wendish culture, said Saxony's Culture Minister Barbara Klepsch. "This special feature is also reflected in the programs for shaping structural change," emphasized the CDU politician.
The aim is to develop strategies for joint projects with cultural stakeholders and interested parties from Upper and Lower Lusatia, said Brandenburg's Culture Minister Manja Schüle. "Culture is the key to strengthening regional identity and the driving force behind tapping into new employment potential and allowing the region undergoing structural change to shine," explained the SPD politician.
The development of these joint projects is significantly influenced by the implementation of a robust cultural policy. This policy will help in preserving and showcasing Lusatia's unique Sorbian-Wendish culture, promoting it as a key element of Lusatia's identity and brand.
Cultural policy plays a crucial role in shaping the cooperative efforts, ensuring that Lusatia's rich cultural heritage becomes a powerful tool for driving economic growth and encouraging employment in the region undergoing structural change.
