Bundesliga 2 - KSC with Wanitzek and Franke: Eichner warns against Elversberg
Coach Christian Eichner can draw on a full squad for Karlsruher SC's last competitive match of the year. In addition to midfielder Marvin Wanitzek, who has served his yellow card suspension and recovered from a broken metacarpal, defensive boss Marcel Franke is also available again for the match against SV Elversberg in the 2nd Bundesliga on Sunday (1.30pm/Sky). "His stiff neck is no longer stiff, but soft and flexible," said the coach on Friday about the central defender.
KSC have 18 points to their name ahead of the final matchday of the first half of the season and are still in the relegation battle. Baden's aim is to surpass the 20-point mark with a win before the winter break. Eichner explained that they wanted to "make up for the draws in the last few away games".
Promoted Elversberg are already on 24 points and feel little pressure ahead of the trip to Wildpark. "Then you travel to Karlsruhe and can play freely. And that makes them twice and three times more dangerous," Eichner warned his team against the Saarland side, who have been surprisingly strong so far.
Eichner nipped any thoughts of a move away by the recently prolific striker Budu Siwsiwadse in the bud. "We don't even need to talk about departures or anything else. Because that would make no sense whatsoever to me at the moment. Especially not in that position," he said. "On the contrary, growth would be even more desirable there," said Eichner with a view to the winter transfer window.
