- Kroos commences his profession in the second phase.
Toni Kroos initiated his second professional chapter 58 days following his latest major football event appearance. In Cologne, the Ideal League, established by retired national player Toni Kroos and influencer Elias Nerlich, made its entrance. The opening matchday of the innovative indoor football league at the Lanxess Arena, showcasing squads consisting of eager amateur players and former pros, saw attendees like Franck Ribéry, Benjamin Henrichs, Simon Terodde, and basketball champion Dennis Schröder.
"Seems like a remarkable beginning," shared Kroos with a sense of pride in the packed arena with 20,000 spectators. Since his last performance in the EM quarter-finals of the German national squad on July 5 against Spain, Kroos donned his football cleats once more, albeit for a brief spell.
Final in Munich
The competing format of the Ideal League aspires to spark interest in the game via novel and thrilling regulations, akin to the Baller League. The 14 teams will engage in 13 matchdays until December, all leading up to the final 8 tournament in Munich. Matches will take place within the hall with five players per team, and will be streamed exclusively online.
"This is a significant undertaking that we've been dedicatedly working on for quite some time," said Kroos. "The goal was to add a bit more excitement to football, as it stands today. We're not looking to replace traditional football, but instead provide football lovers with an alternative option."
"I'm not going to claim all the credit for this success," Toni Kroos modestedly admitted."Regardless of how the upcoming matches unfold, I'm not going to abandon my commitment to this project."
