Voting Process - Kretschmann: Critiquing Greens internally, increasing influence for Habeck

In the realm of environmental and climate policies, Kretschmann encourages the Greens to hold onto their objectives but remain adaptable. "The methods and strategies we use to attain these aims are important," noted Baden-Württemberg's lone Green premier. His constituency typically proposes potential solutions to various issues. However, he underlined the significance of avoiding opposing the majority of the masses. He alluded to Habeck's Heating Law as an illustration.

In discussions revolving around asylum, Kretschmann advocated for a more pragmatic approach. Irregular migration must be curtailed. Deporting law-breakers to Afghanistan should not be off-limits, he said, adding that the Mannheim knife offender has lost his right to seek protection. "Once he's served his sentence, he has to depart from here." Green politics display considerable breathing room in refugee matters.

As the German federal election approaches, Kretschmann stresses the importance of a unified Green leadership structure. "Democracy necessitates leaders," he stated, dismissing the double leadership concept. "During tough times, it's crucial to know who's in charge." Upon being asked to identify this leader, he responded, "The Vice Chancellor."
