Police - Krampus run triggers police and fire department operation
Police and the fire department were called out to Rödental (Coburg district) because of banging noises and smoke near a station restaurant. The emergency services discovered a false alarm on site, as the police announced on Saturday. An authorized "Krampus run" including pyrotechnics took place near the pub on Friday evening.
In many villages and towns in parts of Bavaria, people dress up as Krampus during Advent and parade through the streets ringing loud bells and carrying long rods to scare passers-by. According to tradition, the Krampus is a frightening figure who accompanies St. Nicholas. Krampus Day is December 5 - the eve of St. Nicholas Day.
