Koch aims to exert influence in the Eastern elections, similar to his impact in France's political landscape.

Upcoming elections in Brandenburg, Saxony, and Thuringia are imminent. The leader of the CDU faction in Schleswig-Holstein anticipates, considering the influence of radical groups, a substantial voter participation and a robust showing for the CDU.

The CDU's parliamentary group leader, Koch, expresses anticipation for a substantial voter participation in the east's elections.

- Koch aims to exert influence in the Eastern elections, similar to his impact in France's political landscape.

In a nearby nation, there was a significant turnout in the second round of voting. Many individuals, as per Koch, were motivated due to the approaching uncertain election outcomes. "I'm hoping for a similar trend now, so that our current bleak scenario might not be reflected in the polls," he stated emphatically.

The objective for the Union is to gain significant strength in the three federal states of Brandenburg, Saxony, and Saxony-Anhalt. This would allow them to establish democratic alliances subsequently. "However, I'm struggling to see how this can be achieved in Saxony-Anhalt," Koch expressed. Whilst it's similarly challenging in Brandenburg and Saxony, the poll results for the upcoming elections show a more favorable picture there.

Another radical group: BSW

With the collaboration of Sahra Wagenknecht (BSW), there's another radical group beside the AfD, Koch mentioned. In Saxony-Anhalt, he doesn't dismiss the possibility of AFD and BSW forming a coalition, given that Wagenknecht's coalition demands are only met by the AFD. Her focus is not on state politics, but rather national and European issues, such as relations with Russia, anti-Americanism, and whether to support Ukraine.

"This indicates that both AFD and BSW are essentially Putin's secret agents in Germany, furthering his agenda - they share ideological sympathies," the CDU faction leader explained. Nevertheless, this does not imply that questionable alliances are now being considered; instead, the CDU must aim to stand out as much as possible individually.

Poll for the Saxony-Anhalt election

According to the current Forsa poll commissioned by "Stern" and RTL, the AFD is the most popular party in Saxony-Anhalt with 30 percent. The CDU comes second with 21 percent, and BSW follows closely with 18 percent. The Left, currently led by Bodo Ramelow as the Minister-President, is at 13 percent in the poll. The SPD will make it to the state parliament with 7 percent, while the Greens will not, with 4 percent. Other parties combined have 7 percent, with the FDP scoring less than 3 percent.

The German Press Agency reported the AFD's leading position in the Saxony-Anhalt election poll, with 30%, being challenged by the CDU at 21%. Koch, the CDU faction leader, expressed concern about the potential collaboration between AFD and BSW, another radical group, in Saxony-Anhalt, led by Sahra Wagenknecht.
