During an inspection of the weapons ban at Hamburg Central Station lasting several hours on Sunday night, the Federal Police discovered a number of violations. The officers seized six knives, two brass knuckles and a stun gun, according to a police spokesperson. A further 17 criminal charges were filed for drug offenses, insults and suspected unlawful presence. Three people were arrested, two of whom were the subject of arrest warrants. Since October 1, weapons of all kinds have been banned at Hamburg Central Station and the neighboring central bus station. In addition to firearms, the ban also includes knives with a blade length of more than four centimetres as well as knuckledusters or so-called deadly clubs. Violations have already been detected several times during checks.
The head of the operation on Sunday night, Jan Müller, was pleased with the reaction of numerous travelers. They had contacted the federal police officers on site and thanked them for their efforts. The checks and the seizure of the weapons had made Hamburg Central Station a little safer in the run-up to Christmas, explained Müller.
