Kirkelökke moves from Löwen to Flensburg
Danish world champion Niclas Kirkelökke will move from Rhein-Neckar Löwen to SG Flensburg-Handewitt in the German Handball Bundesliga for the 2024/2025 season. The two clubs made the announcement on Thursday. The left-back will receive a three-year contract at the Fjord until the summer of 2027.
"When the request came in, it quickly became clear to me that I wanted to be part of the SG. We had very good talks in which the overall package was absolutely right for me," the 29-year-old Kirkelökke was quoted as saying in a club statement from Flensburg. SG coach Nicolej Krickau is certain that his Danish compatriot "will add a new dimension to our existing team and game".
Kirkelökke's place in the Löwen squad will be taken by Croatian Ivan Martinovic from MT Melsungen from summer 2024. The Baden club had already announced his signing at the end of March.
