- Kimmich's "funny" experience in South Korea: "Sharp and delicious"
Joshua Kimmich left South Korea with some unique impressions, including culinary ones. At a team barbecue hosted by his South Korean teammate Minjae Kim, the German national footballer was particularly engaged and curious. "You could order anything you wanted on an iPad, and they'd grill it for you. I clicked on a few things. At first, everyone was like, 'Hey, what are you ordering all that for? That's too much.' But in the end, they all ate it up," Kimmich recounted after the FC Bayern Munich's 2-1 win against Tottenham Hotspur in a friendly match on Saturday evening.
"It was all very tasty and very spicy. It was a lot of fun, it was something different," said the 29-year-old Kimmich. Host Kim was delighted that his South Korean barbecue idea was well-received by the team, not just Kimmich. "It was great to be able to show my teammates a little bit of my country," said the 27-year-old Korean.
Joshua Kimmich expressed his interest in experiencing Bavarian cuisine after being impressed by the South Korean barbecue, mentioning that he'd love to visit a traditional German grill house in Bavaria. Minjae Kim, already planning a team getaway, suggested they organize a Bavarian-style bratwurst and Oktoberfest beer event in honor of Kimmich to share some of his culture.
