- Kimmich is very comfortable in Munich
Football national player Joshua Kimmich and sports director Max Eberl have set the course for a shared future beyond the upcoming season in their first conversation. Both expressed themselves in this direction during the South Korea trip.
"In the case of Joshua, we had the conversation," said Eberl in Seoul: "The first conversation after the Euros was very, very positive, very open from both sides. Now let's see how it goes. That Joshua should play an important role for us is clear."
Born in Munich, built a house
The contract of the 29-year-old Kimmich expires in 2025. He is currently starting his tenth season. The Bayern want to prevent a free transfer in a year, but at the same time, they reportedly want to reduce Kimmich's salary. Kimmich has no thoughts of leaving, as he hinted after the 2:1 test match win against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday evening in Seoul.
"In general, it's already the case that I feel very comfortable here. All my children were born here, we built a house here," said Kimmich. He wants to attack again with the FC Bayern after the title-less past season. "Of course, the last season was not very successful. That's not the claim of Bayern Munich and also not my own claim. Now it's already the case that I'm very hungry, full of energy for the new season," said the national player.
In the first game under Kompany back in midfield
Kimmich is also pleased that the new coach Vincent Kompany is possibly planning to play him permanently in midfield and not as a right-back. Against Tottenham, Kimmich played together with Aleksandar Pavlovic centrally in front of the defense in the first half. "In general, we have many good players in that position. Let's see how it turns out in the end," commented Kimmich.
