Mecklenburg Lake District - Killed 6-year-old: 14-year-old found guilty according to expert opinion

The 14-year-old suspect in the case of the murdered 6-year-old Joel from Pragsdorf (Mecklenburg Lake District) is capable of culpability according to an expert opinion. A spokesperson for the Neubrandenburg public prosecutor's office told the German Press Agency on Monday that, in view of his level of maturity and other circumstances, criminal responsibility is possible. A decision as to whether and - if so - with which charge the 14-year-old, who is in custody, will be charged has not yet been made. The forensic psychiatric report is still being examined in detail.

The 14-year-old was remanded in custody on suspicion of manslaughter. According to the police, the teenager is said to have abused and stabbed Joel in a bush at the soccer field in Pragsdorf on September 14. The suspect was arrested at the end of September. He had been caught up in contradictions and his DNA was found on the knife used in the crime. The case caused nationwide consternation. According to the spokesperson, the public prosecutor's office is unlikely to be able to make any further announcements this year regarding a decision on charges.
