Handball player Eric Johansson will miss the upcoming Olympics in Paris due to a necessary surgery. According to his club, THW Kiel, the 23-year-old will have a bone spur removed from his patellar tendon. This has led to persistent knee issues. Johansson is a key player for the Swedish national team, but will be sidelined for eight to ten weeks. The operation is scheduled after the Bundesliga season.

As the top scorer in field goals for THW Kiel this season, Johansson's absence will be significant. "It's absolutely heartbreaking to have to pull out of the Olympics. They could've been my first time competing in the Olympics," said Johansson. "However, I recognize that this knee surgery is crucial for my future as a player. I'm going to make the most of my recovery period."
