Kiel's Fiete Arp feels "satisfaction" after scoring in Rostock

Holstein Kiel's Fiete Arp has described the end of his drought in the 3-1 win in Rostock as the result of hard work. "For the first time in my career, I wasn't nervous, but positively tense. I worked on that in training for weeks. I'm also proud of myself," the 23-year-old attacker was quoted as saying by the Kieler Nachrichten newspaper.

Before his volley to make it 1:1 on Sunday, he had last scored in the league in February. "I felt a lot of satisfaction," he added after the second division match. The away win took Kiel back up to third place in the table.

Born in Bad Segeberger, he trained at Hamburger SV, was regarded as an exceptional talent and won the Fritz Walter Gold Medal as Germany's best U17 player in 2017. In the summer of 2019, Arp moved to Bayern Munich, for whom he did not play a single Bundesliga match in two years. In 2021, he went on loan to Kiel in the 2nd division, then permanently a year later. He scored five goals in 56 competitive matches. However, he was mostly relegated to the role of reserve player.

Fiete Arp's goal against Rostock in the Bundesliga 2 was significant for him as he had not scored in the league since February. Holstein Kiel, Arp's current team in the Bundesliga 2, benefited from his goal as it helped them secure an away win and move up to third place in the table.
