Kiel coach Rapp relies on another top performance against HSV
Marcel Rapp expects a tough game against Hamburger SV with second-division soccer team Holstein Kiel. "Even if we want to play soccer, there will be phases where HSV have the ball, where they might push us in behind," said the coach ahead of the clash on Saturday (13:00/Sky). "Nevertheless, we also want to play our part in making sure we have the ball." After twelve matchdays, HSV are second in the table, while Kiel are fifth.
Rapp is also counting on the support of the fans in the sold-out Holstein Stadium. In terms of personnel, the Holstein coach has a few worries. Patrick Erras (broken toe) and goalkeeper Thomas Dähne (knee) are definitely out. Carl Johansson's possible involvement is questionable.
Rapp is encouraged by the result against Hamburg. His team has "proven that we can deliver our top performances". Kiel have scored in nine of the ten second division duels against HSV so far. In the second half of the 2021/22 season, they managed a 1-0 win at Holstein-Stadion.
Rapp's Holstein Kiel aims to continue their strong performance against Bundesliga 2 rival Hamburger SV, having previously shown they can deliver top soccer at the Holstein Stadium. Despite anticipating periods where HSV might control possession, Rapp also wants his team to keep the ball and capitalize on their opportunities.
