Awards - "Kevin - Home Alone" and "Apollo 13" in the US film index
Hollywood classics such as the Christmas movie "Kevin Home Alone" and the space drama "Apollo 13" have been added to the official film register of the USA. A total of 25 films have been selected for their cultural, historical and artistic significance to US cinematic art, according to a statement from the National Library in Washington. These also include "Terminator 2 - Day of Reckoning" and "12 Years a Slave".
6875 films were nominated by the public, it added. The Library of Congress register, which was founded in 1989, now includes 875 films that are to be specially protected.
