Accidents - Kebab skewers cause full closure on A 81
Kebab skewers on the road have paralyzed the 81 freeway near Lauda-Königshofen (Main-Tauber district). A truck lost part of the 21 tons of kebab meat it was carrying in an accident early on Sunday morning, according to the police. The damage to the vehicle and the load is estimated at around 70,000 euros. A following car driver drove over the kebab skewers and damaged his vehicle. The damage to his car is estimated at 1000 euros. The highway was temporarily closed in the direction of Stuttgart between the Tauberbischofsheim and Ahorn junctions for the clean-up work.

The accident resulted in a full closure of the roadway on the A81 in the Main-Tauber-kreis area of Baden-Württemberg. The truck driver, who was slightly injured, had lost control of his 21-ton vehicle due to a burst tire, leading to the spillage of kebab meat on the road. Following vehicles, including a car, were affected by the skewers, causing further damage. The highway was closed for clean-up efforts between the Tauberbischofsheim and Ahorn junctions. The police are investigating the accident thoroughly. Despite the chaos, a local kebab shop owner saw an opportunity to sell his wares and set up a stall near the accident site, offering kebab meat to hungry passersby.
