Berlinale - Katharina Stark is one of the "European Shooting Stars"

Actress Katharina Stark ("Deutsches Haus") will be one of the "European Shooting Stars" at the upcoming Berlinale. The 25-year-old was named on Thursday together with six European actresses and three other colleagues by the European Film Promotion.

With this programme, the organization invites ten promising talents to the International Film Festival in Berlin every year. A special program during the Berlinale (February 15 to 25) is designed to help them present themselves, raise their profile and build a network within the industry. Meetings are planned with international casting agencies, talent agents and production managers, for example.

Stark, who lives in Munich, began acting as a child and trained at the Otto Falckenberg School. She performed at the Münchner Kammerspiele and appeared in front of the camera for films such as "King Laurin", "Luna", "Dead Girls Dancing" and television productions. Most recently, she played the leading role of translator Eva Bruhns in the mini-series "Deutsches Haus".

In the opinion of the "European Shooting Stars" jury, she plays "an emotionally charged and demanding role with ease". The depth of the character is conveyed through a restrained and convincing performance.

In addition to Stark, the jury selected Thibaud Dooms (Belgium), Margarita Stoykova (Bulgaria), Suzy Bemba (France), Salome Demuria (Georgia), Éanna Hardwicke (Ireland), Valentina Bellè (Italy), Džiugas Grinys (Lithuania), Kamila Urzędowska (Poland) and Asta Kamma August (Sweden).

Former German "Shooting Stars" include Daniel Brühl, Anna Maria Mühe, Moritz Bleibtreu, Jella Haase, Albrecht Schuch and Emilio Sakraya. Leonie Benesch took part last year.
