Stylish apparel creator - Karl Lagerfeld's Promenade in Hamburg is officially opened.
Five years since Karl Lagerfeld's passing, Hamburg is set to honor him with a street named after the iconic fashion designer. The Karl-Lagerfeld-Promenade will officially open on Thursday at 11.30 am. The pedestrian and hiking path spans 155 meters along an Alster arm in the city center. Born in Hamburg in 1933, Lagerfeld maintained close ties with the city. Senator for Culture, Carsten Brosda (SPD), is also expected at the inauguration.
Lagerfeld transformed himself into an artistic icon and myth. His influence on fashion spanned over half a decade. He gave a fresh look to classic tweed jackets with belts and ruffles, fusing haute couture gowns with sneakers. He also discovered the next generation of top models, making Claudia Schiffer and his male muse, Baptiste Giabiconi, stars in the fashion industry.

Despite the ongoing traffic in Hamburg's city center, thousands of people are expected to attend the opening of the Karl-Lagerfeld-Promenade. The municipalities in Hamburg have seen an increase in street name changes, with this one being the latest addition to the list. Regrettably, Karl Lagerfeld, who was renowned for his unique fusion of high fashion and streetwear, is no longer with us to witness this tribute.
