Kane and the Lewandowski record: it's still too early for that
After continuing his goalscoring run in the Bundesliga, Harry Kane is not yet setting his sights on Robert Lewandowski's record. "That's a bit too far away," said the FC Bayern Munich striker after the 4:2 (2:0) win against 1. FC Heidenheim. Kane had taken the lead at the break with a brace.
Kane has 17 goals to his name after eleven matchdays. That would have made him top scorer in the previous season. If the 30-year-old continues to score at this rate, Lewandowski's record of 41 goals for the season could be shaken. "I have to stay focused from game to game. I want to keep scoring and help the team," said Kane.
However, Heidenheim showed a lot of heart after the break and fought their way back into the game brilliantly through Tim Kleindienst (67') and Jan-Niklas Beste (70') against a sloppy Bayern side. Eleven minutes after coming on as a substitute, Raphael Guerreiro gave Bayern another chance to celebrate their imminent victory (72'). Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, who also came on as a substitute, then made it all clear (85').
Despite the impressive performance of Harry Kane in the Bundesliga, with 17 goals after 11 matchdays, he acknowledged that Robert Lewandowski's record of 41 goals in a season is still quite distant. In the recent match between FC Bayern Munich and 1st FC Heidenheim, Kane scored twice, but 1st FC Heidenheim managed to come back with goals from Tim Kleindienst and Jan-Niklas Beste, before Raphael Guerreiro and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting secured the victory for Bayern.
