Kamala Harris pledges to serve as the president for every U.S. citizen.

In her talk set for 4:45 AM CEST in Chicago, Vice President Kamala Harris is set to declare her acceptance as the Democratic nominee for President. She intends to highlight her leadership abilities by stating, "I'll be a President who brings us all together in our greatest hopes," based on drafts of her campaign speech. "A President who commands and listens."

Harris hopped into the presidential race a bit late. In July, following some intense discussions about his suitability for the role, President Joe Biden opted out of the November elections and threw his support behind Harris. She was subsequently chosen as the Democratic presidential candidate in an electronic vote in the early days of August. Her nomination was ultimately validated at the party convention in Chicago, and she'll round up her speech by officially confirming her acceptance.

Her presidential run has generated significant excitement within the party. At 59, if elected, Harris would become the first female, the first African American, and the first person of Asian descent to hold the position of US President.

Despite her late entry into the presidential race, other potential candidates stepped aside for Harris. Following Biden's decision, supporting Harris became a unifying cause among Democrats.
