Weather - June was changeable - slow start to summer
Lethargic and sluggish, the Junisommer has come into being in North Rhine-Westfalen. The sheep's back initially put a massive brake on the summer's start, according to the German Weather Service (DWD) in a preliminary assessment on a Friday. In the past few days of June, there was a change in the weather: with climbing temperatures and highs above 30 degrees.
In the monthly average, a temperature of 16.1 degrees was measured in June 2024, according to meteorologists, which was a bit too warm. In the reference period 1961 to 1990, the average was 15.4 degrees. In NRW, there was significantly more rainfall with 90 liters per square meter compared to the comparison period with 84 liters. The sun shone for nearly 200 hours in the almost ended month - on average, there were 184 June sunshine hours in the reference period.
The temperatures in Germany fluctuated between autumnal coolness and high summer heat, reported the DWD based on the first assessments of the approximately 2000 measuring stations. With heat, sheep's back, flooding, and heavy rains, all possible weather conditions were experienced nationwide.
