- Joop exhibition postponed - See 2025 planned
The originally planned exhibition for November about the life's work of designer Wolfgang Joop (79) in Potsdam has been postponed. The town hall announced: "During the planning phase, the team of Wolfgang Joop, together with the Potsdam Museum, decided to expand the exhibition to include additional aspects and agreed to postpone it until February 2025 due to the high time investment."
Last August, the city announced that it would open the exhibition, titled "Contrasts," just before Joop's 80th birthday in November 2024. The multi-month exhibition aims to showcase the versatility of Joop's life and work, which extends far beyond fashion design.
The designer, illustrator, and author was born and lives again in the state capital of Potsdam. Looking towards his 80th birthday, he said last year: "I feel much too young to be 80."
The city announced that the comprehensive retrospective will present the life's work of Wolfgang Joop, provide rare insights into his personal life, and highlight his international career as well as his Potsdam roots. It is a very extensive and technically demanding project. "The exhibition will certainly attract guests from all over Germany and beyond," said Thomas Steller, director of the Potsdam Museum, according to a statement.
Despite the initial plan to hold the 'Exhibitions' titled "Contrasts" in November 2024, it has been postponed until February 2025 due to the expansion of contents. Visitors can expect a variety of 'Exhibitions' showcasing Wolfgang Joop's versatile life and work, including his roots in Potsdam.
