- Johnny Depp will showcase his second movie entitled "Modi" at the festival.
Johnny Deep (61) has secured a distinguished location for the debut of his second directorial venture. The "Pirates of the Caribbean" star will unveil his movie "Modi - Three Days on the Brink of Insanity" at the San Sebastián Film Festival. Deep, both actor and director, hinted at the upcoming global launch in September through an Instagram Story. His production company IN.2 declared their excitement on the platform X, expressing their delight to commemorate the film's debut as part of the 72nd event in the northern Spanish city. "Modi" will be displayed outside the competition.
The film revolves around Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani (1884 - 1920), with a star-studded cast led by Riccardo Scamarcio, Bruno Gouery, and Al Pacino. The plot focuses on the painter's three intense days in Paris during World War I. In January, Deep publicized the initial images of the project and expressed gratitude to Pacino (84) for bringing the project to his attention. It marks Depp's second directorial venture, following "The Brave" from 1997. Most recently, he appeared in the period drama "Jeanne du Barry" (2023).
The "San Sebastián International Film Festival" is considered Spain's most significant cinematic event. The 72nd edition will unfold from September 20 to 28. The primary honor, the "Golden Shell," is named after the shape of the bay where the Basque capital lies.
Johnny Deep's movie "Modi - Three Days on the Brink of Insanity" will not only be premiering at the San Sebastián Film Festival, but it will also be showcased in Spain, highlighting the country's importance in the global film industry.
Despite being an Italian artist, Amedeo Modigliani's life and work have garnered significant interest in Spain, making the San Sebastián Film Festival an appropriate venue for the movie's international debut.
