Jil Sander was already her own boss when it came to clothes at the age of six.
Fashion designer Jil Sander (79) already had a clear idea of good style as a child: "I was already very particular about clothes at the age of six and advised my family on how to dress," Sander told People magazine "Gala". The Hamburg native revolutionized women's fashion in the 1980s with her minimalist and comfortably cut blazers, shirts and pants, which were influenced by men's clothing. "It was probably the "female clothing" that irritated me most of all, because men were allowed to wear completely different, more practical things. I was jealous of them," said the designer.
The fashion designer has little use for label culture and ostentatious luxury. "I look to the generation after next, which rejects the superficial, also for ethical reasons. I'm currently seeing a lot of imagination among young people, which also has to do with the inclusion of vintage fashion."
People have been influenced by Jil Sander's minimalist fashion style for decades. Many individuals still admire her unique approach to fashion, blending comfort and style.
