Jessica Biel aims to make discussions about menstruation more common with her latest children's book.

"A Book for Kids About Periods" is created to foster positive dialogues between kids and grown-ups, as stated in an official summary, and was motivated by Biel's own personal story of experiencing her first period.

In a recent conversation with Women's Health, Biel mentioned that her mother made an effort to prepare her for this significant event, but Biel couldn't recall any such conversation. In fact, she felt like she was dying when she got her period for the first time.

"We need to alter how we discuss this subject," she stated. She also disclosed that despite her mother's attempts to ready her, she wasn't receptive since there's a cultural stigma surrounding it.

To destroy this cultural stigma, Biel is launching "A Kids Book About Periods". This book aims to educate children aged 7-9 about periods in a positive light, explaining that they're normal and period commencement is actually rather remarkable.

The book's synopsis suggests that it provides valuable information about how periods operate. It's meant to let children understand that having a period is ordinary and fascinating.

Her own two kids - Silas, 9, and Phineas, 3, who she shares with Justin Timberlake - aren't immune to knowing about this topic. In fact, the book is dedicated to them.

Biel said she will eventually read this book to her sons, but for now, "I believe we're establishing a relaxed and friendly environment around it."

"A Book for Kids About Periods" is available on Kindle and as a hardcover now.
