Activities or operations. - Jerome Boateng faces a fresh legal issue.
A fresh trial against ex-German football star Jérôme Boateng will take place at Munich Regional Court on Friday (10 a.m.). Boateng's ex-girlfriend claims he attacked her during a vacation in the Caribbean in 2018, an allegation he rejects. This is the fourth time the courts have handled this case.
The legal process involving the former long-term defender of FC Bayern Munich, who recently switched from Italian club US Salernitana to Linzer ASK in Austria, has been dragging on for quite some time. The Munich Magistrates' Court imposed a fine of 60 penalty payments of 30,000 Euro each on Boateng in 2021, adding up to 1.8 million Euro.
In October 2022, Munich Regional Court I convicted Boateng in the second instance for assault and slander towards his ex-girlfriend during their Caribbean getaway. He was fined 120 penalty payments of 10,000 Euro, making a total of 1.2 million Euro. However, the Bavarian Higher Regional Court overturned the verdict due to legal errors.
Now, as his former teammates gear up for the Euro opening game against Scotland, Boateng's case is back on the table just a few kilometers away for the fourth time. The possibility of a new judgment is set for July 19th. Until the final conclusion of the trial, Boateng is entitled to the presumption of innocence.
