Jenoptik earns more and expects 2023 to be a good year

Improved business, particularly in Asia and Europe, gave the Thuringian technology group Jenoptik a further boost in the third quarter. Sales and earnings increased. "In view of our high order backlog, among other things, we are confident for 2023," said CEO Stefan Traeger on Thursday at the presentation of business figures in Jena. He confirmed the annual turnover target of one billion euros. However, he expects profitability to be somewhat higher than previously thought.

In the third quarter, Jenoptik generated a profit of 21.5 million euros after 18.2 million euros in the same period of the previous year. Revenue increased by 5.2 percent to just under 264 million euros.

The target for 2023 is annual revenue of between 1.05 billion and 1.10 billion euros. In 2022 it was 980.7 million euros. Jenoptik AG has around 4,500 employees and is one of the few listed technology companies in eastern Germany.

Jenoptik's improved optics business significantly contributed to the increase in their quarterly figures. The company's strong performance in Asia and Europe, as well as a high order backlog, has influenced their confidence in maintaining profitability and surpassing the revenue target of one billion euros in 2023.
