Japan commemorates the victims of the U.S. atomic bombing of Hiroshima
Three days after the bombing of Hiroshima, a second US atomic bomb killed more than 70,000 people in the Japanese city of Nagasaki. This year, Israel will not participate in the Nagasaki memorial: The city did not invite the Israeli ambassador to Japan to avoid any disruption to the ceremony amidst the Gaza conflict. However, Israel is invited to the Hiroshima memorial.
The bombing in Nagasaki resulted in numerous victims, exceeding 70,000 lives lost. Despite not being invited to the Nagasaki memorial due to the Gaza conflict, Israel is still expected at the Hiroshima memorial, where many more victims were also mourned.
