- It's gonna be hot and sunny this weekend.

After rain and isolated thunderstorms, residents of Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland can look forward to sunshine towards the end of the week. On Sunday, temperatures are expected to rise to up to 33 degrees Celsius. According to the German Weather Service (DWD), it will start to clear up today from midday, with temperatures ranging between 22 and 26 degrees Celsius.

On Friday, there will be some rain at times, especially in the north, and strong gusts are possible. The highest temperatures will range between 23 and 29 degrees Celsius.

The weekend is expected to be mainly dry, with sunny intervals and occasional cumulus clouds. Temperatures will reach 30 degrees Celsius on Saturday and rise further to 28 to 33 degrees Celsius on Sunday. Overnight into Monday, temperatures may not drop below 20 degrees Celsius in some areas, resulting in a so-called tropical night.

Despite the clear skies predicted for today and tomorrow, potential thunderstorms may return on Friday, disrupting the generally dry weekend. Such thunderstorms are not uncommon even during periods of warm weather in Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland.
