Bundesliga 2 - "It just hurts": Braunschweig loses the connection

Eintracht Braunschweig are increasingly losing touch in the relegation battle in the 2nd Bundesliga. After the 0:1 (0:1) against SpVgg Greuther Fürth, the team second last in the table is already eight points behind the relegation places. "It just hurts to be back on zero points in this situation," said defender Ermin Bicakcic.

Particularly bitter from Braunschweig's point of view: According to Eintracht coach Daniel Scherning, awarding the penalty before the decisive goal by Julian Green (31st minute) was a "blatantly wrong decision". The video assistant did not intervene either, although Fürth's Armindo Sieb had already taken off in the penalty area before the duel with Bicakcic.

In addition, Eintracht missed several good opportunities through Sidi Sané (8th), Johan Gomez (16th/86th) and Maurice Multhaup (75th/90th +5th). "Given the scoring chances we had today, a draw would have been the minimum," said Bicakcic. The lack of offense, the serious injury to top scorer Anthony Ujah and the fact that four of six new additions to the offense have so far proven to be transfer flops are a major shortcoming.

Before the winter break, Braunschweig still have to play promoted SV Wehen Wiesbaden and crisis club 1. FC Kaiserslautern. Two wins are almost a must if they are to have any chance of avoiding relegation in the new year.
