Israel warns of severe retaliation for Hezbollah assaults

The Shiite militant group Hezbollah, supported by Iran, has launched attacks on multiple Israeli army positions and bases in northern Israel with rockets and drones, as per their own claims. These attacks came in response to the killing of a senior Hezbollah commander on Tuesday, they said.

Ever since the beginning of the Gaza war over eight months ago, there have been almost daily confrontations between Israeli soldiers and Hezbollah fighters along the border between Lebanon and northern Israel. In the past few weeks, these conflicts have escalated, causing concerns of a potential regional war. Iraq recently cautioned that the fighting could spread throughout the entire Middle East.

Israel has threatened a strong reaction towards Hezbollah's missile attacks and drone strikes on its army positions, attributed to the group's resentment over the killing of a top commander. Iran, a known supporter of Hezbollah, remains a potential factor in this ongoing conflict.

Following Hezbollah's attacks on Israeli military targets, there have been concerns about a potential escalation of tension between the two nations, prompting nearby countries to issue warnings about the potential spread of conflict.

As the situation remains tense, Israel continues to express its readiness for severe reprisals, citing Iran's involvement in these series of attacks on Israeli territory.
